Endoscopy
Endoscopy is a minimally invasive diagnostic procedure that allows our veterinarians to examine your cat’s internal organs and cavities without the need for exploratory surgery. This advanced procedure enables us to diagnose and assess various conditions accurately, ensuring the best possible care for your feline friend.
What is Endoscopy?
Endoscopy is performed using a flexible tube equipped with a camera and light at the tip—the entire setup is called an endoscope. The tube is inserted through a natural opening of the body. The light and camera attached to the tube provide a real-time visualisation of the internal structure and detect any polyps, internal bleeding, or the presence of abnormal objects. This procedure is particularly useful for examining the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory system, and other internal areas, allowing for a detailed and accurate assessment of your cat’s health.
When is Endoscopy Recommended?
If your cat is experiencing clinical signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, abdominal pain, or loss of appetite, our veterinarian may recommend an endoscopic procedure. Endoscopy is also valuable for investigating potential issues like foreign objects, tumors, or inflammation within the internal organs.

Endoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure used to diagnose and sometimes treat internal issues, such as gastrointestinal problems or foreign object removal. A vet has the expertise and equipment necessary to safely perform the procedure and interpret the results accurately.
Symptoms like severe vomiting, unexplained weight loss, or blood in the stool can suggest underlying issues that an endoscopy might help diagnose. The vet evaluates the actual symptoms and determines if endoscopy is the best course of action for diagnosis or treatment.
Endoscopy is less invasive than traditional surgery and can provide real-time visuals of the internal structures. This allows for quicker recovery and less stress on your cat. Additionally, a vet may perform biopsies during the procedure, providing detailed information to guide further treatment.
